Cause Summary

The objectives of the project are to construct an elderly home in Qamishli, Syria for at least 12 people. The centre will help the elderly to complete the rest of their lives with dignity and pride, as well as to treat the psychological diseases that afflicted and afflict most of the elderly in the region as a result of their loneliness and the traumatic events during the war.

Problem / Challenge

There is a large number of elderly that are alone do not have anyone to support and care for them. The idea of the church was to set up this project to support, contain and serve them in a decent manner so that they could live a decent life. Also due to the war in Syria and the economic situation the elderly cannot afford healthcare and basic relief items. There is a huge burden for the church also to cover all their expenses and care for them (workers’ wages, food, medicines, diapers, detergents, etc.), as each elderly person costs approximately $200 per month for his personal needs.

Solution / Impact

This project will directly benefit 12 elderly people who will be served in this elderly home, as well as the 11 employees and service team, which will be compensated for their work.
