Cause Summary
The conflict in Ukraine has created a regional humanitarian crisis. Over 3 million Ukrainian refugees have already crossed the international borders. The Republic of Moldova is one of the main refugee-hosting countries and a transit country for onwards. The majority of those coming in are women and children, while there are also some men coming through (older persons, single parents or parents of families of at least three children). There are also significant needs to support people with special needs (older persons, people with disabilities).
Problem / Challenge
A major problem emerged is the humanitarian crisis - there is a huge need of food, water and hygiene products, as basics for everyday life, which newly arrived refugees can't afford.
Solution / Impact
The Charity Centre for Refugees will distribute vouchers that can be used to purchase food, water, hygiene products, and other items in the stores of the largest supermarket chain on the Republic of Moldova, accessible in any region of the country.
