Cause Summary
Kisa foundation Uganda (KFU) is a community based organization reg. no.NMC/CBO/203/21 The major aim is to help children achieve education, in a healthy and accessible environment with a vision of targeting schools, homes within the community. Specific objectives are: - Educate and care for orphans. - Improve on water and sanitation. - Solicit scholastic materials for the pupils and schools. - Bring together schools, pupils, teachers, parents, individuals and organizations for the common goal. Back ground: Kisa foundation is an affiliation to Kisa primary orphanage a school which helps to educate orphans and disadvantaged children in primary education. Kisa primary was founded in 1993 and it has been able to educate out 1758 children of which 754 are orphans. Unfortunately some of have not been able to acquire any further education after primary seven(grade seven).
Problem / Challenge
At present Kisa Primary school is offering education to children many of whom are orphans and cannot pay school fees and providing other basic needs like clothes,food,health services and shelter. These pupils amount to almost 51% of the total population of the school. However the 49% of the children in school,their school fees paid is used to meet school requirements and payment of salaries; this implies that the school cannot manage to meet meals,health services,clothes and water for the pupils because we don’t have the money. As a result most pupils attend class on an empty stomach whereby they end up not concentrating in class and their performance is greatly affected. And not only are they always unhappy and sad but they are always angry. It cost about $2 to feed a pupil per day at Kisa primary school.
Solution / Impact
The purpose of the project is to improve on the feeding of Kisa orphanage primary school pupils thus the effectiveness of the schools performance: - To improve on the pupils performance in class. - To improve on the pupils healthy - To improve on services offered at Kisa School. - To improve on the individual pupils attendance to school. - To give a settled mind of our pupils when at school. - To slow down the pupils worries when at school. - To help all our pupils eat something when at school. - To slow down the tendency of our pupils to steal food. - To improve on the attentiveness of the pupils when at school. - To deter pupils from sleeping during class. Output - Improved pupil’s performance at school. - Improved pupils healthy. - Improved services at Kisa School. - Regular attendances of pupils at school. - Pupils will settle down for classes. - Worries for a hungry stomach shall be decreased. - Pupils will be more attentive at school.
