In the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, lockdowns are key to controlling the virus’ spread. Although lockdowns are effective in enforcing social distancing measures and tracing of COVID-19 patients, they are not good for education and the economy. The project funds will be used to print and distribute reading materials to 5,000 poor rural pupils in primary schools. Keeping children learning even in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic and support pupils through their parents who don’t have access to the current technologies and finances to buy daily data on their gadgets. We will promote the partners, through the agreeable platform in Uganda and beyond to rescue one of the youngest populations in the world. This project will last for 2 months, failure to deliver this basic right in emergencies and beyond means millions of young people across generations will continue to shoulder the burden of our inaction in Uganda.
A holistic approach to education that addresses pupils’ learning, social and emotional needs is crucial, especially in times of crisis. School closures related to the current COVID-19 pandemic mean that pupils from diverse backgrounds who are more at risk of increased vulnerability are less likely to receive the support and extra services they need, and the gap between pupils that experience additional barriers and that do not might widen. The online learning has left millions of pupils stranded and hopeless as their parents can’t afford the necessary apparatus for them. Even if the schools resume, some pupils will have inferiority complex as they have not been studying, causing disparities in learning and the period of learning will still be short for them. Closures can also have considerable effects on pupils’ sense of belonging to schools and their feelings of self-worth these are a key for inclusion in education
Printing and distribution of educational materials to children in primary schools, these subjects are already designed by government's education department. Having these reading materials, will make the pupils to cope with the lost times until resume in January 2022. This will also give them hope and competency in themselves.
